How can you tell if your >>>MINI MARSHMALLOWS<<< have gone bad?

I'm not really a marshmallow person, but I have some mini marshmallows that I would like to put in my hot chocolate. Still with me? Anyway, I've had them for a couple weeks. They still are "spongy" to the touch, but how can I tell for sure if they are majorly stale?
